Get started with BrightBook

Everything you need to take your first online booking, in order. Each step says where to find it in BrightBook.

Set up your business

These are the steps on your Finish your setup list. Your booking page opens for clients once they're done.

  1. Create your account

Sign up with your business name, your email and a password. Your account starts empty - nothing is filled in for you - and a short Finish your setup list on your calendar walks you through the rest.

  2. Set your booking rules

Choose how much notice you need, how far ahead clients can book, how far apart start times are and until when clients can cancel. Add your booking policy if you have one.

Settings > Booking policies & rules

  3. Choose whether you charge GST/HST

Pick Yes if your business is registered for sales tax, or No if it isn't. Add your GST/HST number to show it on invoices.

    Settings > Business details

  4. Check your location

Open your location and save its address, province (for sales tax) and time zone. Add more locations if you have them.

    Settings > Locations

  5. Add your services

Add each service with its length and price, choose who provides it, and tick Bookable online for the ones clients can book themselves.

    Settings > Services & pricing

  6. Add your team and their hours

Add the people who work with you, choose their access level, tick Takes appointments for those who see clients, and set their working hours. If someone can have clients in more than one chair or room at once, add their chairs. Add a break when someone is away or at lunch.

Settings > Staff & schedules, Settings > Breaks

Then, when you're ready

Optional, and each one takes a few minutes.

  1. Make your booking page your own

Add your logo and colours, choose fonts and a look, and decide what your page shows - welcome message, announcements, gallery, about us and questions. The live preview shows every change before you save.

    Settings > Booking page

  2. Send reminders

Tick when clients get a reminder before their appointment. Confirmations, reminders and changes go by email, and by text to clients who agreed to texts.

    Reminders & messages

  3. Take payments

Connect your Square account to take deposits or hold a card when clients book, take payment at checkout, and sell gift cards. Card payments go straight to your Square account.

Settings > Payments, messaging & Google

  4. Ask your own questions

Write the questions clients answer when they book - your intake form.

    Settings > Intake form

  5. See bookings in Google Calendar

Copy your private calendar link into Google Calendar to see BrightBook appointments there.

Settings > Payments, messaging & Google

  6. Share your booking link

Copy your link and put it on your website, social media and Google profile. Clients book in a few steps, with no account to create.

    Settings > Booking page
